IF: Winter

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas!  My Christmas was spent with family eating good food, chilling out and watching movies.  It was most pleasant and always great to have some time to relax.  Though I also find that holidays and having time to think results in a lot of self-reflection.

This is my entry to Illustration friday: winter done in flash and photoshop.

I am still working on creating backgrounds and props for an interstitial series part-time and am looking for more gigs to work on.  I am taking a trip to Japan in a few months and need to save up and earn some shopping money!  I want to buy so many boots and not to mention clothes!  Looking forward to it!

Happy Holidays!

Howdy!

Well it's Christmas Eve so I hope all your shopping is done and that you're all just ready to relax and enjoy the holidays!  Merry Christmas to you all!  May awesome food, good company and cool presents come your way!

The Cat and The Owl

A drawing inspired by the nursery rhyme "The owl and the pussycat".  I changed a few things though.  Hand drawn and inked then scanned and coloured into Photoshop.  Trying to make my poses more dynamic and exciting.

It's been really nice being able to draw again.  Not having time to just do sketches for myself really does mess with my mindset.

I have a few days away from the computer so am hoping to come up with more drawing ideas and to relax a bit before doing work again.

Christmas is almost upon us!

IF: Mail

"Peggy was so surprised when she discovered that........"

This is my submission for Illustration Friday: Mail.  Thought I would leave it open ended for everyone else to fill in the blanks.

I haven't been able to submit for two weeks because of freelance work and it feels so nice to have something up for this week.  I am still on fashion illustration mode and enjoying it a lot.  Done in Flash and tweaked in Photoshop.

Merry Christmas in advance!

Hi everyone

This is a drawing I made for my friend Ching Yee who has been in a scooter accident.  Just wanted to show her I thought she was gorgeous inside and out and an awesome person...with a holiday feel.  I think she's an inspiration.  No complaints from her and when she says anything online it is always positive and cheerful.  I think she has an attitude and persona that everyone needs to aspire to.  Me especially, being so susceptible to feeling so down when nothing bad has really happened.

This is the first drawing I have been able to draw in the last two weeks.  It is inspired by the two fashion books am reading; Dreaming of Dior and Dreaming of Chanel.  This is all drawn up in Flash then a textured BG done in Photoshop.

I have been incredibly busy designing props and backgrounds for a TV series and I was feeling uninspired.  Things have been emotionally turbulent but that tends to happen during the holidays.  Can't believe that 2010 is almost over.  It's been a r…

Monkey Suit

Howdy!

This is my entry to Unit-16 Character Turbo!  Basically the aim is to interpret someone else's drawing and then post one of your own for someone else to interpret.  Hand drawn and inked then brought into Photoshop.  I have been having a lot of fun playing and testing out textures and layer options in Photoshop lately.

The sketch above is the original concept which I interpreted.  It was great to do.  I wouldn't normally think of drawing a monkey.....

For other news, I spent this week animating some flash game elements and doing some freelance illustration.  Next week I start work at another studio where I will be making pre-production elements like assets and backgrounds.  I rarely do that sort of thing professionally so it's going to be a learning experience which I am looking forward to.  I am very fortunate to have gotten gigs so quickly after my last contract finished.  See how I go next week!
