Fashion Study: Menswear (Saibu no Akuma)

Geoff

Maleik

Howdy!  I had some left over cards from the Saibu no Akuma exhibition and I told them to send me pictures of their crew and I will make sure to draw them best I can.  I must say that I need to get better at drawing dudes and colouring in the complexions of non-Caucasians is hard!!!  It's a real challenge.  I struggled a lot getting the shades right.  I used like 10 different pens on Geoff's complexion until it came close.  I didn't have the markers to get it exact an afraid!  Still, am going to keep trying and practicing and I might get good at this too.  If you guys haven't checked them out yet, you should!  Incidentally, I will be getting a shirt from these guys too with my Rabbit Town logo.  Yay!!!  I picked a very stand out combination.  Can't wait!

Next, I have been dealing with copyright and trademark lawyers over the last few days for my Trademark name and logo (separate costs) and it has turned out to be much more costly when I realized that I had to file for another two classes.  Classes are sections of business which I do.  Like animation, illustration and selling of paper and print products and I have every intention of getting into clothing.  So instead of two classes (Illustration and Animation)  I had to file for another two.  Price has sky rocketed!  That said, I do have the rights and of course the ability to renew every 10 years...so really, it's worth it.  Still, that's going to sting the wallet a bit.  Better do more work and make this worth it!

Some news though, while dealing with copyright lawyers, I have been advised against selling any prints of the product drawings I've been doing in case I infringe copyright and trademark.  So no zines or compilations of my product drawings.  I can however make things up though!  I started drawing products for practice and not for selling purposes.  It only crossed my mind that people would want to buy it after folks mentioned it.  So now, I go back to practicing and will make up my own!

Some journal entries!

Hi, hi!

How are things going?  Thought I would touch base.  My first week and a bit at work has been quite full on.  Lots of work to do for now.....will see how that goes.  Rob and I went to Sushi Jiro at the QV last weekend for some delicious sushi train.  We love sushi train.  I especially wanted to draw the scampi nigiri and the spicy salmon nigiri.

I also drew my fatty boombah kitty, Hanzo.  He is on a diet...but it's going to take time to lose weight, so he's still fat.  I need to lose weight too.  I really need to lessen my sugar and certainly exercise more.

Working on some test animations tomorrow.  Should be good fun!

Howdy!  It's been a while since i posted anything up on the blog.  My bad. I've been super busy with one job after another and I WAS doing a few drawing challenges too before I got overrun with work.

For news, I finished up with one of my animation jobs last Monday, started work at one of my regular studios on Thursday and we're working on a cartoon movie for DVD, did drawing and freelance illustration in between those days and caught up with a friend, somebody was being a jack ass on the tram and I let them know it.   Rob and I also watched Logan, a great movie and I would totally recommend it.

Today, I did a bit of work, received text from one of my employers about more work and we're about to enjoy the day in a country fair.  Well, if we make it in time.  I also cooked up pancakes this morning and it wasn't a disaster.

Our kitty Hanzo (changed from Dorian) is causing a lot of mischief and he likes to eat electric cables.  Guess we have to find something to stop…

Hello! Hello!  Some news!  I was on TV a few weeks back, April 07 to be precise, to represent Moshi with Christien Clegg and Dale Andreson for Space Chickens!  It was really good fun.  The hosts Lauren and Andy were super nice.  I was quite nervous, there wasn't a lot of warm up before filming and it was all very spontaneous.  We were advised to just run with any mistakes made. smile and just have a lot of energy!

Dale and I had a couple of draw offs while Christien refereed and described Space Chickens and  animation.  There were some really weird topics that we had to draw for the last segment, I had to draw a chicken doing taxes on the sun (with Andy) and a Pelican doing the lambada on a shooting star. We only had a minute each for each drawing.  It was crazy to say the least.  I did enjoy myself though.

The pictures below were taken by our Producer that accompanied us to the shoot!

In the first drawing,, where we had to draw the chickens, I was like grabbing colors to color m…
