Sketchbook Project: Maneki Neko (lucky cat) Collection

Maneki Neko Collection from Marta Tesoro on Vimeo.

Tada!  I finished my Maneki Neko sketchbook on Sept 11!  I am really please with the results and I managed to draw all my ceramic lucky cats!  I still have a few cloth ones, clothes and battery operated ones that haven't been drawn, but hey, I am hoping to create a book out of it so I can add those in as extras along with any new lucky cat I may buy!

Here are some work in progress shots and pages!

Myself and Hanzo drawing together

These cats were gifted to me at different times but they're pretty much the same family!

My favourite page from my book and I love that music box I bought from Hokkaido

I really enjoyed drawing in the book and it was so good to do a themed project consistently.   I've had a lot of work stuff on my plate as soon as I finished drawing the Maneki Neko sketchbook.  My contract ended at Moshi officially on Sept 16 but ended up picking up a commercial project the next day with another studio I work with. I had to spend most of the last 3 weeks finishing up pending projects.  I finally got everything done, except the commercial job, last night.  Yay!

Hopefully I get to blog more, I had this post in my draft box for aaages!

Some journal entries!

Hi, hi!

How are things going?  Thought I would touch base.  My first week and a bit at work has been quite full on.  Lots of work to do for now.....will see how that goes.  Rob and I went to Sushi Jiro at the QV last weekend for some delicious sushi train.  We love sushi train.  I especially wanted to draw the scampi nigiri and the spicy salmon nigiri.

I also drew my fatty boombah kitty, Hanzo.  He is on a diet...but it's going to take time to lose weight, so he's still fat.  I need to lose weight too.  I really need to lessen my sugar and certainly exercise more.

Working on some test animations tomorrow.  Should be good fun!

IF: Burning

This is my illustration for Illustration Friday and the theme is Burning.  I wanted to do something simple with bold colours and I went for "burning passion" and why not?  I think it's the type of burning most people wont mind at all.  This was illustrated in Flash.

I bought two awesome fashion books today: Dreaming of Chanel and Dreaming of Dior.  I would definitely recommend them!

IF: Mail

"Peggy was so surprised when she discovered that........"

This is my submission for Illustration Friday: Mail.  Thought I would leave it open ended for everyone else to fill in the blanks.

I haven't been able to submit for two weeks because of freelance work and it feels so nice to have something up for this week.  I am still on fashion illustration mode and enjoying it a lot.  Done in Flash and tweaked in Photoshop.
