A reflection of 2025 and the obligatory #artvsartist

Happy 2026! A new year already, feels like time is going by super fast and not fast enough at the same time.  Life got very busy and challenging for me between October to December. My cat, Hanzo passing away, things breaking down and needing replacing, drama with family and getting other jobs done on top of my full-time animation job that also ramped up in difficulty (from sheer volume of work to do). I took breaks where I could and took it a bit easier with drawing for myself. I was working on a Christmas collection in December too but didn't end up posting it on my blog.

I only managed to post up one drawing since I only finished one pattern for Christmas. I did a lot of the motifs though so am hoping I shall be ready for next Christmas!

So life wins for 2025: My partner Rob is now cancer free and all the surgeries were successful. I had great friends and a supportive network all year. I was employed as an animator for a few lovely studios who were very understanding of my situation and scored a few freelance jobs here and there.

Not life wins: My cat died. I considered him a part of my family and the loss will hit for a while yet. It was difficult to save this year with things needing replacing and family needing help but it is what it is. I couldn't find the energy to be very creative towards the end of 2025 either.

For 2026, I have a lot of life things on the list to do, the list is a mile-long from gardening (so much to do) work and just updating my shops, folios, etc. Just a lot but my aim is more for consistency this year. Even a little thing every day that's in step with getting something on the list done, I will be taking as a win.

If you stumbled on my page, thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely 2026.
