Material Difference: Rainbow Frogs
I have gotten so used to not writing on my blog regularly that even when I do have news, I forget to chat about it. Well, better late than never...even though this is news from last year already. Some of you, may or may not know, I have a profile on Material Difference and this is one of the patterns I designed and have up there. Poison dart frogs is a recurring theme in my work. I love their vibrant colours and patterns and when it comes to animals, the brighter and more colourful they are, the better!
To create these patterns, I individually drew the frogs as light colour pencil sketch in a watercolour book and then I painted them using Staedtler watercolour pens. Each frog was scanned individually, and then I edited and transformed into a pattern digitally, with various coloured backgrounds.
There is just something relaxing drawing things traditionally. Perhaps it's because I spend all my working hours on the computer and then spend my free time looking at my phone. I'm currently reading an online novel that's over 700 plus chapters long. That's a lot of screen time in a day!
Plus when I draw traditionally at home, the cat gets to keep me company and tries to take credit for all my work. Typical cat.
