Dude

Day 32...oh wow,  I have passed the one month mark!  Time is totally flying.  My piece for today, done with fine liners, copic pens for shading and Photoshop.  I do enjoy playing with textures and I love the old fatigued and dirtied look.  Lots of fun.  It looks like an old photograph!  Well...if the dude looked a little less cartoonified...

Well I finished one big job today and it all went through without a hitch and the client was very happy with the finished product which in turn makes me very happy.  I do have to knuckle down on the pilot gig tomorrow and hopefully make them happy.   I am glad to be getting gigs though and hoping for more paid work to come up soon.  It would be nice.

Somebody actually asked if I only work for commission or if I do anything for the "love of it".  Tsk, tsk...what I do in my own time, I do for the love of it and because I enjoy animating and drawing outside of a job.  I always say that I love what I do, but that doesn't mean that because I love what I do that I should be asked to do anything for free. Sorry, doesn't work that way.  I am a creative professional and I will not work for free.  If I do anything for "free" or just for the "love of it" I would do it for myself, I would do it for friends whose animation projects I support and want to see succeed (and they would do the same for me) and yes, my parents get freebies.  They are my parents after all and they do give me other things.

For other news...my house still smells like burnt brownie and I have every intention of going to the gym tomorrow! I need to work off all the sugar I've eaten in the last 2 days.  On another note, I watched Captain America last night and I really enjoyed it!  Was a really fun film and I do like how Captain America was portrayed.  I am dubious about the upcoming Avengers Movie though...

  1. I had long hair like that once. Rose hated it...actually i didnt like it that much either. I vowed to not cut my hair until I finished my Porcelain film. 5 years later I had some regrets. haha

Some journal entries!

Hi, hi!

How are things going?  Thought I would touch base.  My first week and a bit at work has been quite full on.  Lots of work to do for now.....will see how that goes.  Rob and I went to Sushi Jiro at the QV last weekend for some delicious sushi train.  We love sushi train.  I especially wanted to draw the scampi nigiri and the spicy salmon nigiri.

I also drew my fatty boombah kitty, Hanzo.  He is on a diet...but it's going to take time to lose weight, so he's still fat.  I need to lose weight too.  I really need to lessen my sugar and certainly exercise more.

Working on some test animations tomorrow.  Should be good fun!

Hello! Hello!  Some news!  I was on TV a few weeks back, April 07 to be precise, to represent Moshi with Christien Clegg and Dale Andreson for Space Chickens!  It was really good fun.  The hosts Lauren and Andy were super nice.  I was quite nervous, there wasn't a lot of warm up before filming and it was all very spontaneous.  We were advised to just run with any mistakes made. smile and just have a lot of energy!

Dale and I had a couple of draw offs while Christien refereed and described Space Chickens and  animation.  There were some really weird topics that we had to draw for the last segment, I had to draw a chicken doing taxes on the sun (with Andy) and a Pelican doing the lambada on a shooting star. We only had a minute each for each drawing.  It was crazy to say the least.  I did enjoy myself though.

The pictures below were taken by our Producer that accompanied us to the shoot!

Howdy!  It's been a while since i posted anything up on the blog.  My bad. I've been super busy with one job after another and I WAS doing a few drawing challenges too before I got overrun with work.

For news, I finished up with one of my animation jobs last Monday, started work at one of my regular studios on Thursday and we're working on a cartoon movie for DVD, did drawing and freelance illustration in between those days and caught up with a friend, somebody was being a jack ass on the tram and I let them know it.   Rob and I also watched Logan, a great movie and I would totally recommend it.

Today, I did a bit of work, received text from one of my employers about more work and we're about to enjoy the day in a country fair.  Well, if we make it in time.  I also cooked up pancakes this morning and it wasn't a disaster.

Our kitty Hanzo (changed from Dorian) is causing a lot of mischief and he likes to eat electric cables.  Guess we have to find something to stop…
